Sunday, March 8, 2015 - Lots of Champagne: First bottle seemed flawed: Quite fat, exotic fruits, burnt brioche on the nose. Medium accidity, exotic fruits, tart finish.
Second bottle much fresher, light, pleasant creamy vanilla.
4/22/2015 5:19:00 AM - We still have 9 bottles for this year. It is our "house" champagne (we only sip champagne 2 to 4 times per month). We nudged it to 90 points, but curious what happened? Perhaps a bad bottle?
4/22/2015 5:29:00 AM - Yes, it definitely seemed like a bad bottle. It wasn't corked or oxidised, just didn't seem right. Served as a reminder not to judge a wine too quickly if you don't like it before you have tried another bottle.
4/22/2015 6:47:00 PM - Agreed. Everyone (bottle?) deserves a second chance. I sat next to Laurent Chiquet at a Jacquesson lunch. Nice fella. We chatted all things champagne and his belief zero dosage - which he enjoys when it is appropriate for the wine - is a bit of a fad.
