Community Tasting Note

Monday, October 21, 2013 - This is the second bottle I have opened. Still rather disappointing. Let it decant well over two hours, and gave up waiting for the wine to give something. Very flat, a bit bitter, but not flawed. Left half the bottle for the next day - no real improvement. So given the 98WS and 95WA, I've either been very unlucky or am just simply drinking way too early. I will wait at least another 5 years before trying again.

10/22/2013 6:35:00 AM - LB is a certified slow ager. Our half case of this will rest a minimum of 5 more years before the crowbar comes out. We hope to have a better experience than you, and we certainly hope your patience pays off well. And thanks for sharing!

10/22/2013 10:40:00 PM - I had planned to drink a pair of these in September, but after reading that this seems to be going back and forth between slightly open and shutting back down, I pulled them from the list and will let them rest. We tasted a bunch of LB '03 and while showing promise many need another 5 years. Let them sleep.

11/5/2013 12:26:00 PM - It is not too early but 2h of decant is not nearly enough, 12h is more like it... either wait 5 years as you say or slow-ox it for at least 24h - it is actually worth it

11/5/2013 4:24:00 PM - Last September's Left Bank tasting was a bit messed up as it was dreadfully hot in Toronto and the air conditioning in the Restaurant was broken. We did decant for a pretty good amount of time. Most bottles were opened prior to going down to the restaurant. I came from upstate NY and opened my bottles about 3pm and we started drinking around 7pm, but we had to cool the bottles off now and again in champagne buckets, which was more than frustrating. It was a very humid day and evening. I think, as I always have, that '03 Left Bank and St. Emilion have as much potential as 2000, though a totally different style of wine. I have 2 of the '03 left and will pop one soon enough. Thanks for the comment.
