Saturday, August 2, 2014 - The nose shows a nice aroma of fresh yellow apples, ripe pineapple and a touch of oak. Overall not overly intense aromas, on initial tastes I found it rather mute among other wines. Medium-heavy weight in the mouth, the pineapples deliver on the palate with apples and rich orange melon. The acid is well balanced to the intensity of the palate, if a little behind it. The rich, somewhat ripe fruit flavors are what show most strongly and persist through the finish nicely. The wine has enough body and intensity to stand up to hot food too, which I'm finding nice. It's a really nice wine to drink. Overall it's a straight-forward, new world Chardonnay that I enjoy drinking but I don't find that complex, at least currently. I love this producer's Pinots, while I found this delicious I expected a bit more considering the price point.
