Monday, September 21, 2015 - One of the few times we disagree. She thought it WAY too fruity, cloyingly so. While I agree it's rather ripe, and certainly not what I look for in a Pinot (or even varietally typical), I thought it had some other interesting things going on. Some savory, spicy, leathery touches hiding in the background. Decent balance too. I think this has enough structure that if left in cellar for 10 years it could turn into a stunner.

7/26/2018 6:26:00 PM - Our one bottle had some seepage (see my review), but barring that, I think this is one for the cellar and probably best opened AFTER 2018. We opened our one bottle now, hope you have more, would prove her wrong. We have had a lot of luck letting wine breathe 3-5 hours, as we did with this, but we had a slightly-flawed bottle that was still quite good.

7/28/2018 7:27:00 AM - I agree. Many times after having a bottle we end up saying “that could’ve used a few more years” or “should’ve put it in decanter a couple hours earlier”. The biggest problem with our wine collection is keeping our hands off it long enough to let it mature.
We went through Monterey County in fall 2014 and Boekenoogan was one of our favorites too.
