Wednesday, January 6, 2016 - I am not sure where this wine is right now or what it thinks it needs to do, but I think it's right at the top of the hill now. Definitely not down the hill yet, but I don't see this one improving more in the bottle than it has right now. Nice slightly bricked red hue poured into the glass with a slight touch of brown and ever the slightest amount of bricking noted. Dirty raspberry nose and palate. Very acidic opening yet at the same time quite dense. The wine at first was a little nitrogenous, but after 30 minutes of air the fruit was very expressive. The mid-palate turned slightly darker. The middle had a tart cherry at first, but this changed to more of a cherry liqueur note, with a green herbaceous nature chasing it around. The finish is chewy, not very tannic. Doesn't linger much. My last score on this wine was an 87, and I think that this is where it still is. Well made wine, but not great or outstanding. Drink now or in the next year.
