On the nose, initially muted fruit, but opened up to reveal cassis, cedar, and a touch of eucalyptus. Thin on the palate at first, but over the course of a couple of hours, opened up to provide plums, cassis, tobacco, and olive notes, with perhaps a hint of soy. The finish was somewhat tannic and short. I thought I might have been able to get away without decanting, but in retrospect, this needed at least 90 minutes before we touched it. I don't believe this has the goods to be a great wine, but there is enough here to reward a few more years of aging.
