90 Points

Saturday, January 20, 2007 - Consumed with steaks and potatoes. In the glass, dark red fading to deep pink at the rim. On the nose, initially muted fruit, but opened up to reveal cassis, cedar, and a touch of eucalyptus. Thin on the palate at first, but over the course of a couple of hours, opened up to provide plums, cassis, tobacco, and olive notes, with perhaps a hint of soy. The finish was somewhat tannic and short. I thought I might have been able to get away without decanting, but in retrospect, this needed at least 90 minutes before we touched it. I don't believe this has the goods to be a great wine, but there is enough here to reward a few more years of aging.
