Monday, November 20, 2017 - A lot more complete of a wine than what I remember. I find that Anthill can be a bit hit or miss. Either it's moderately profound or just another unmemorable wine. This is definitely the former. The acidity and orange peel are much more in balance with crunchy cherry and raspberry. A little citrus and finishes a touch hot.

11/29/2017 6:10:00 AM - I think you hit exactly. AH is very good or an average dud, why I stopped buying from them directly when formerly buying by the case. It's unfortunate because I've talked with and like the guys, overall support the style of the wines. It isn't clear if the problem is in the vineyard or wine making but either way I'm not buying in quantity anymore, and singles aren't available where I live. This morning I was reading an older issue of Allen Meadows (his quarterlies on burgundies are the only wine letters worth buying but he also tosses in CA and OR + champagne periodically), and thought I would check some notes. Yours was my experience, even after exploring the vineyard I preferred over years of tasting and drinking. I was an early "subscriber" but have bowed out. Some day maybe I'll try again. The Demuth has particular refinement but can lack richness, the Tina Marie can have complexity and depth or be an average dud. It has never been the vintage that is the problem.
