Sunday, April 5, 2020 - A great bottle. A little more body and tannin and darkness to the fruit than a typical Shake Ridge (weighs in at 14.0% alcohol), but that spice from the stems and the juicy fresh whole cluster aroma is still definitely there in the nose, so despite the slightly elevated structure and body, i think a D&R fan would be able to identity this as a D&R wine with just one sniff. Really pretty on the palate, almost cab-like in terms of structure, but the acidity hits you on the mid-palate and the wine remains fresh and lively. So comforting to have something to drink that seems so familiar and yet at the same time surprising with a couple of dinners at home over a pretty bleak weekend in NYC. Makes me think of better days in the past and hope for better ones in the future too.
