Wednesday, July 25, 2018 - I generally like The Footbolt for a quaff. Relatively consistent, good QPR - even better with a bit of development.
Typical ripe dark berries and rich red cherries on the nose, chocolate, undergrowth, leather. A bit denser than the younger vintages.
Decent palate, a little jammy and muddled. Dark fruits, plums initially, cherries in the finish, a lingering bottle funk. Still relatively tight tannins which could still stand to have some time to relax but I’m not convinced it’ll show too much more.
