90 Points

Sunday, July 13, 2014 - Glass-coating. Dark and dense - 85% opaque. There are a dazzling array of aromatics present in this wine: Ripe plum, Chambord, black and blue fruit, cedar, a hint of cinnamon. It gets a bit boozy at times, especially on the nose, so if you're looking for a balanced wine (between fruit, acid, and tannin) this probably isn't for you.

That said, the wine is incredibly smooth and easy to drink. Hardly any tannins to mention and as heavy as it is it doesn't get tiring coming back for a second taste.

Overall, I think it could use more structure to bump it up to being truly extraordinary. But considering the relatively favorable price points this vintage is being offered at it's worth buying a bottle or two if you like fruit forward Napa Cab.

Sample for review.

7/13/2014 4:25:00 PM - Caymus does seem to be making more fruit bombs....at least while the wines are very young.
