Does not like this wine:

82 Points

Thursday, December 29, 2016 - Ugh, this is awful. I think it got worse. Taste like someone trying to make wine from cough syrup, grape vinegar, and molasses...with a hint of ass sweat. Have two bottles left and not sure if I am embarrassed that I want to sell them. Even the fruit bomb lover in our group hated this one. Yet, the bottle was gone in 45 min...with no help from me. Go figure.

Personally, I'm not a fan of caymus but that just means it is not a good wine for me, not that it is not a good wine for someone else. By the same token, I am sure there are a lot of wines you think are fantastic and great that many others would think were terrible, made with "ass sweat " and not worth the money you paid. Everyone has different tastes.

Frankly, some wines have ass sweat that I like and others wouldn't according to your logic....this bottle of '12 Caymus, however, was not one of 'em. Seems there is significant bottle variation, maybe just one of many an explanation for the varying scores...in addition to varying palates, perhaps?

2/11/2017 6:16:00 AM - Different pallet and bottle variation, right on. Personally, I am a big barolo guy but I usually will not open one for others unless I know they like nebbeolo-- I know from experience a lot of people don't . As far as the caymus, I've never had the 2012 but I'm taking a 1 liter (along with a brunello for me and a riesling for my wife) to a wine party today. There will be several cab fans there so the feedback should be interesting. You may wonder why, if I am not a fan, do I own several bottles. I bought them based on reviews before I actually had an opportunity to taste one. Nice chatting with you.
