6/22/2023 10:51:00 AM - AS: I know we’ve shared a fondness for the Beringer PR previously. I don’t know if you’re on the friends & family mailing list for Treasury Estates (and if you’re not, how hard it is to get on it), but they’re offering the ‘13 PR for $103, with a 15% discount this week to boot. I’ve not had that vintage of this, but find the PRs pretty consistent vintage to vintage, and I’m really liking the way ‘13s generally are drinking now. Jut ordered 3 myself as well as some Etude SVD cabs, also well-priced. I hope you’re well and that sounds appealing!

5/12/2017 4:36:00 AM - Hi, Regarding Nebbiolo, you are sometimes correct. My friends are all appreciative of various styles and types of wines, partly as a result of my exposing them. I have found that as people begin to experience wine they start in one place and gradually learn to appreciate other styles. Largely as a result of Prohibition Americans have had to restart their wine industry and only since about the 1960's have they begun to explore wine as most Europeans do naturally. Today many people start with domestic wines and since the mid-1990's as the industry evolved somewhat to the tune of a certain wine writer's taste, powerful highly extracted and higher alcohol wines became popular. I have always preferred elegant balanced and more feminine wines, however. In order to really appreciate Nebbiolo in its greatness it is often co-incident with an appreciation for great Burgundy which, like Nebbiolo takes time to age and fully express itself. It also is lighter textured but layered in flavor and nuance compared to modern Cabernet based wines for example. So, friends sometimes need to be taught to appreciate "old school" or "old world" wines which may be more subtle or nuanced than they are used to... Dave aka "oldwines" dtpwineadvisors.com

12/2/2014 5:01:00 AM - Hello, I usually shop "the village corner" in ann arbor or costco. I have not found anyplace that beats costco's prices on most wines but dick at the village corner carries a huge selection, will get special orders and has really good prices as well.

12/1/2014 2:41:00 PM - Hi americanstorm. Thanks for the helpful tasting note on the Antinori Vin Santo. I am also from the Detroit area, Oakland County. What is your favourite wine shop or what are your favourite wine shops in and around Farmington Hills? There may be some I'm not aware of. Please post a response on my message board as I may forget to come back here. Thanks! Cheers!
