Saturday, November 17, 2018 - WineBid bottle. Capsule was basically welded to the bottle and cork, and the line on the cork was very high on this mid-shoulder fill. I was worries about provenance/storage, but my tasting buddies (who have lots of experience with older wines) assured me there was nothing wrong with the bottle

The notes below ascribing vibrancy and liveliness to this wine are in line with my experience. Nose showed some scorched earth and burned rubber, even a little petrol. The palate had dried maraschino cherry, blackberry, and tar with really nice supporting acidity. There are still a few tannins hanging around, too. All in all a nice wine. Not my favorite aroma, but when you account for the remaining verve, it’s a good bottle. Drink now and buy with confidence over the next 5 years if it’s a decent bottle. it’s not like there are many people holding these for peak maturity.
