Thursday, February 4, 2016 - Dark color. Beautiful nose of dark cherries, sweet earth and iron minerals. Drunk out of magnum and decanted two hours, the wine kept opening and improving and it was ultimately a stunning example of Chambertin especially considering the vintage. Very authentic, masculine style with flavors of black cherry and those iron minerals. It has a firm backbone and remains quite structured but there is plenty of delicious fruit which leads to a complex finish with notes of medicinal cherries, sweet earth and real mineral crunch. A fabulous showing.
