Monday, May 18, 2015 - Hyper difficult to rate! On the first and second day packed with hard tannins, dry earth, tobacco (! and some more BDX style traces) and TOTALLY SHUT. Very beefy as well. Now, on day three it is starting to open up a bit. I can't believe it myself. The structure appears much less rustic and even a bit refined. Suddenly there is a shy whiff of dark earth melanged fruit in my glass as well. I am sure this one will never become an aesthetic beauty, but there is obviously potential left! A mentally challenging, intellectual, obviously versatile and at the moment pretty elusive Pinot. As I wrote earlier: very difficult to rate! I only know one thing: Let ist breathe AIR ... a lot!

PS: Tonight, 2 1/2 days later, it is opening up, step by step, even the fruit, a melange of very ripe dark cherries and dried plums, is getting more and more communicative. Big surprise, the first day impressions in mind. Perhaps 90 to 92 points.
I'd suggest to keep it in the cellar... for more than just a few years.
