Friday, June 9, 2017 - Clear, bright, medium garnet with some ruby streaks. The nose is clean, with oak spice notes dominating. The nose is developing (+) with aromas of ripe red plum, black cherry, green tea, fennel and a little earth. The palate is dry, but fruitier than the nose, with medium acidity, medium tannins and medium (+) alcohol (13.5%). The alcohol actually seems hotter, like a 14.5% abv or more. Overall, this is a medium-bodied, food-friendly wine with good flavor intensity and a medium (+) long, clean finish. It pairs very well with charcuterie and milk cheeses. It is drinking nicely right now, but is not likely to improve with further aging because the oak is likely to outlast the fruit. 88+
