Monday, August 18, 2014 - The 1964 La Tour du Pin Figeac is a lovely, rustic Saint Émilion, generously endowed with the ripe black fruit and glycerin of this excellent right-bank vintage. The comparatively muted nose is dominated by ripe black cherry, loamy soil and some more funky, bretty notes; it is on the palate that the wine excels, with its abundance of youthful fruit and its decadent, luscious texture. Surprising length and complexity on the finish elevates this into an outstanding wine.
