88 Points

Thursday, November 27, 2014 - For those of you who give sub-85 scores and don't explain why -- SHAME ON YOU. Score of 72 indicates the bottle was either flawed, or it knocked you out when trying to remove the pressboard cork and you have a personal vendetta. Either way, "NR" or "flawed" should be your rating.

I DIGRESS --- pressboard cork popped. Rather tight in the bottle. The wine smelled of kiwi and lemon but the nose was quite faint. Was beginning to think the 72 rating was actually correct (just kidding...I know better). The wine poured a light straw color into the glass. On the nose in the glass, the notes were much more vibrant. Lots of kiwi, a minerality, and a little sting in the nostrils. On the palate is a medium (-) bodied wine with sharp acidity, a hint of effervescence. Watermelon, kiwi, pineapple. Not very strong, but there. Finishes with good substance, no tannin, good weight. A correct albarino wine from Cali. Continued acidity. Nice wine. Not the best and definitely not a 90 (but better than 72), but again this one will make a very good appetizer wine for $20/bottle.
