Saturday, January 31, 2015 - Rieslingfeier 2015: Riesling Crawl: Very different from the Kabinett - much more approachable. The nose is sweet melon, musky, herbal, honey and flowers. Delicious on the palate - lime, minerals, sweet&sour. Great acid/sugar balance, really mouth-watering. This clocks in at 10.5% alcohol, while the 13 Kabinett and Spat are at 8.5%. Egon said that this is completely due to chapitalization - trying to make a wine for earlier and easier drinking. It is also worth noting that all of the WBK fruit went into this. On this Egon said that 2013 was so short that he decided to put all the WBK fruit into this so that there was at least one wine in decent quantity. Nose - 4.5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 16-16.5/20.
