95 Points

Saturday, September 7, 2013 - This is the first of the six DRC 2010 bottles we had tonight.
A rare bird, indeed.
Second vintage for this wine, and only 5.219 bottles were made.
Compared to the 2009 version, this is indeed a whole other wine.
Young, of course, but so lovely.
On the nose it’s meaty, animalistic with a light smokiness.
But it’s the Pinot meatiness this year, and not as I experienced last year, with Syrah tones.
Light hint of vanilla and a touch of licorice present too.
Starts out a little bit closed first with cherries and great minerals.
Then…BANG!
Strawberries!
An explosion of mature and lovely sweet strawberries emerges from the glass.
This wine is full of lovely fruit but has a great balance with a super nice acidity, the balance is simply stunning.
I believe that this will turn into a killer wine.
What a great bottle of Corton this is!
