91 Points

Thursday, May 2, 2013 - color is mature - almost cinnamon color like an old barolo, upon opening it had a funky nose (good) and a funky palate (funky enough to be worrisome), then with 30 minutes of air it blew off and the nose was nice with mostly sweet wood and some cherry, a touch of sandalwood soap, the palate you could taste wood and cherry and a touch of sweetness, the mouthfeel was rich with enough acid to make lively, and a small amount of textured tannin... overall a very nice wine with some great components but feels like it just misses something to make it a 95 pointer, you see my mention of wood - which i don't like generally - but it wasn't overwhelming... maybe that was what caused it to just miss
