95 Points

Friday, April 15, 2016 - Weekend with Eddie - Part 1 (Marea, New York City): Absolutely captivating nose, the perfect example of fully mature Burgundy that we all seek. Raspberry jelly/jam, sous bois, decadent caramel, mushroom, truffle, a hint of animal and mineral. There definitely is a hint of the 83 rot but it is not bothersome. The palate is surprisingly lean and angular which it is quite common in the 83 reds. The nose makes me to come back. Perhaps 98 point nose and 90 point palate. I can smell this all day. This and the 95 La Tache were the only two red Burgundies that reach the full maturity.

4/19/2016 10:50:00 AM - Chateau & Estates import (i.e., terres rouges) or bottle intended for European market (i.e., terres blanches)?

4/19/2016 11:02:00 AM - I don't think there would have been the stamp on a bottle originally sold in Switzerland, UK, Belgium, etc.

The C&E strip on the neck usually was quite noticeable, although with this much time, it could easily have fallen off.
