Tuesday, January 1, 2019 - Opened, poured into a decanter and served about an hour later with food (roast pork, mashed potatoes, and spinach, in case you were wondering).
Cork broke when opening so I double decanted to remove cork pieces and sediment.
Dark ruby garnet color.
Wonderful nose of ripe plums, and cherries, with a hint of oak and a slight smoky element.
Delicious and deep flavors of dark fruits. Tannins are nicely integrated. The oak notes are slight and add some depth, helping to frame the fruit with some structural support (yes, all carpentry terms intended).
Sufficient acidity to give the wine lift.
Delicious. Not quite a "wow" wine but still outstanding.
