Sunday, July 26, 2015 - Ruby color. Nose: cherry jam, boysenberry, blueberry, and ripe strawberry with accents of tobacco, black tea, ginger snaps, red rose, allspice, graham cracker, white pepper, tamarind, cola, and vanilla. Medium body on the palate: boysenberry, dried red cherry, blueberry, and ripe strawberry framed by allspice, tobacco, black tea, Sichuan peppercorn, vanilla, tamarind, star anise, plum skin, cola, and graphite. Medium+ acidity. Moderate/lighter tannins. Lingering cherry/plum skin, allspice, vanilla, tamarind, graphite, and Sichuan peppercorn on the moderate/long finish. Juicy red/blue fruit with very pretty spice & leaf accents. Quite complex and a superb value. Pair with Peking duck, smoked pork BBQ preparations, cured meats/charcuterie, pan-fried pork chops, or creamy or blue cheeses. Drink over the next 2-3 years.
