Saturday, December 27, 2014 - Mustard and spice on the nose. Acid. Tannic. Tart. Then subtle with ripe berries. Some vanilla. Some wood. Some dryness. Actually like a really light version of Caymus; much different style but similar taste profile. This is a much more classical version of California Cabernet Sauvignon that is not over the top. Elegant in comparison. Distinctly Californian though; this will not be mistaken for Bordeaux. Not what I expected for the vintage despite previous experience with the wine, but in a positive way. The high ABV, overripe Cabernet Sauvignon lover will not like this.
