The 2012 Turley cab is drinking really well now. Lush, and silky with good cassis and black fruit flavour. Subtle notes of leather, some lead pencil and dusty tannin, but not to the level of a Dunn, for example. But then again, not many cabs are. This wine is pleasing for many wine drinkers and is close to its peak now.

Fun, flavourful cab. Not overly complex, but full of nice cassis, leather, and graphite. Medium bodied, fine tannins and really good balance. Drinking very nicely now, may get a little better but probably not much. Drink up!

Muted noise of red fruit. Nice mouthfeel, glycerin sweetness, a bit of tabacco and spice in the background. Easy to enjoy but doesn't draw me in like the very best cabs

Very good fruit and finish. Not overpowering, the Turley jammy effect on the front has mellowed a bit - smooth on the end, getting a bit dry - Merry Christmas.

This was ready to go. Pretty berry nose, lighter palate, not contemplative but fun to drink. Served alongside a grilled NY Strip. Good now, will look to enjoy my 2nd bottle from this vintage in the next 1-3yrs. Not a long term ager.

Decanted for roughly an hour. Nose has chocolate and blackberry jam. The palate is more plummy and still quite sweet with light menthol and baking spice notes. Perhaps not for me, but it is quite smooth and, I think, at its peak.

Decanted for 2 hours. Deeply aromatic with notes of blackberry, black currant, huckleberry, cocoa, forest floor, mushroom, redwood bark, and petrichor. Full bodied with a beautiful balance of fruit, acidity and well integrated tannins. Long finish with an enjoyable juxtaposition of sweet fruit and refreshing acidity.

I feel like I'm in an alternate universe. We drank one of these in Nov 2019 and one in Jan 2020 and they were both just ok at best and seemed to be past their prime. We had two bottles left and to say we weren't excited to drink them would be an understatement. We decided to give our second to last bottle a few days - four in fact. Night three and night four were actually impressive. This leads me to believe that the wine may be in a "shut down" phase which is why everyone is currently disliking it. We will be saving our last bottle for a few years to see if it evolves past this awkward phase. Night four of this Turley Cab was so good I wish we didn't rush through those other two bottles and were a little more patient.

Packed with aromas and flavors of chocolate-covered cherries, licorice, spice cake and pipe tobacco, this medium-bodied Cab has tannins that are silky-texured, alcohol that is nicely woven (14.1%) and oak that is seamlessly integrated. Round and luscious on the mid-palate, it moves on to a smooth finish that has good length. Based upon how well the fruit and structure are holding up, this should last longer than previously projected. Drink now-2024.

Purchased on release and in a cold cellar. Opened for a hour and found it fruit forward with counterbalancing acid and tannin. I would suggest aging longer which I feel will improve it and add complexity.

Fully ready to go. Glad this is my last bottle. Drank after the bottle had been open 4-5 hours. Very plush, a touch over ripe; but then, Turley. Tobacco, slight menthol, dried herbs, dried berries. Light tannins & acid; medium finish. Very nice and together for being only ~6 years old.

Understated, not trying too hard to be a BIG Napa cab. From a producer known primarily for their Zins (and Petit Sirah). This was very pleasing. Textbook cab, red fruit, not a lot of oak influence, and at 6 years old I feel it's at peak. One foot in the old world I think, a wine that doesn't feel it has to be the center of the universe.

Nice medium body cab that displays ripe sweet fruit typical of Turley wines. Fruit forward but balanced, raspberry and stone fruit with a smooth finish. Although structured, there is not loads of tannin left to resolve. More balanced and less fruity that my earlier tasting. Seems to be hitting its stride at this point.

Opened a bottle last night with friends. Limited decant (30 minutes). We all really enjoyed this wine. A bit of tannins/alcohol however some nice cocoa notes and dark fruit. I believe fruit will come out as it ages a bit. Will revisit as I have three more bottles.

Drank this wine as second bottle after the 2013; our group liked the 2013 more but this wine was excellent; well-balanced flavor but not quite the fullness and depth of the 2013; both were very enjoyable. I think the fruit forward aspect of earlier Turley cabernets has improved with more balance over time.

Since last being tasted more than two years ago, this deep ruby, medium-bodied Cabernet has evolved nicely. Still with blackberry, plum, spice and dark chocolate aromas and flavors, it has added a wisp of pipe tobacco. The medium-weight tannins are silky-texured, the alcohol seamless (14.1%) and the oak nicely integrated. Dense on the mid-palate and closing with good length, this inaugural Turley Cabernet is refined and elegant. Drink now-2022.

Has improved greatly over the last 5 months. Very soft, smooth black fruit with some clove like spice in the mid palate. Maybe not as complex as you would want based on the price. But it is headed in the right direction.

WOW has this mellowed over the last year. An improving and soft hand conclusion to what once was a harsh and edged wine. I am quite impressed at the roundness of the flavors. Enjoy this now after decanting for an hour or Two !

Mushroom. Plum. Black cherry. Cola. Caramel. Christmas spices. Candy. Sweet. Dry. Yeast. Dough. Mustard. Orange zest. Orange rind. Slightly bitter. Relatively smooth, but not very complex. Not that it matters, but I like the light, old school, and flat bottom bottle. I enjoy this wine, but I am starting to question the price. Typical reviews note that this wine drinks up - and I do not disagree - but is Banshee a better price? Or Juvenile or Old Vines or even Beran or Belle Glos although different varietals and styles?

Decanted 30 min, and had with grilled dry aged bone in ribeye. Outstanding, lush dark fruit. In balance and smooth as silk. Toasty oak, done right completed package. What you would expect in a wine frpm Turley, but this time a cabernet. Mrs Coupe absolutely loved it, will be buying future vintages for sure.

After enjoying many Turley Zins and blends this is the first pure Cab. Decanted and drank over three days and was consistent. Lots of warm black fruit but no spice or smoke. A decent Cab but hope some age will add a little character to the other 5 bottles.

Okay cab....so far. This is the first Turley cab we have drunk - have 3 more of these '12s - will let them lay for AT LEAST another year and beyond.
Quick decant then immediately back in bottle and off the restaurant. Poured upon arriving, sat in glass for 30+ minutes. Still rather tight, even by end of meal 2 hrs later.
Just a regular cab, no big deal. Nothing outstanding, except it came off a little tannic, a little tight even for a cab. So, hoping time in cellar will help.

This wine has matured nicely over the past year. Dark red fruits are still plush, but the tannins have softened noticeably. Drank this alongside a 2013, and the difference is evident - while the 2013 is certainly solid, it's older sibling is much more approachable. One can only hope that another year in the cellar will benefit the '13 as much as it did the '12.

With grilled roast beef for Christmas dinner. We also opened a Franco Molino Barolo. The Barolo paired better with the meal than the sweeter Turley, but this was the crowd pleaser.

First sip on opening seemed boring, lacking structure. 60 minutes later, definitely opened up into a medium to full bodied Napa cab. Clear oak notes, dark fruit, chocolate, nice acidity. Lacking a sense of special or complexity though. It's Napa cab, that's it. Nowhere near as impressive as Turley's Zins.

Consistent easy drinking cabernet. At lunch we pnp'd, dark fruit on the nose, the palate is blueberry, plum, some cedar and a touch of mocha which comes out on the nice full finish.

Like most cabs, this needs another couple of years in the cellar. While pairs well with a good steak the wine is immature. I think I will keep this cellared until at least 2017 before drinking. Plenty of other Turleys in my cellar to enjoy

Smells and tastes like candy. Smooth and balanced, but sweet with good fruit. Rosemary, black cherry, cola, and salty beef on the finish. Some umami. Sea salt. Some lavender. No wood. Almost no tannins. Ripe berries. Grape juice. Curious as to how this will age; there is good potential.

Pop and pour, straight from the cellar. Dark purple color, red fruit on the nose. Same fruit on the palate, along with medium+ tannins and medium acid. Nice refined, round fruit on the forefront, tannins slightly rough. A refined California cab, not excessively rich or overpowering. Quite enjoyable, goes with food or on its own. This is the first bottle I've tried from bottles purchased on release. Ready to drink but no hurry, seems like it has plenty of life.

Two hour decant. Getting better. Dark fruits, super mellow tannins, good balance, and acidity that rewards a pairing with food. Really good effort and solid QPR. Tasted along side a $50 Napa Cab blend and this was clearly the better wine. 92-94 range.

Give this puppy some air and let her breathe. A decant is suggested. On day two, this really flourished. I did not decant the first night. Vacu-Vin sealed and the second night was awesome. Totally different wine. What was closed is now open. Full of red fruit, but showing enough tannins and acidity to hold it together for a few years. Nice finish. This is medium-full bodied and well balanced. Not a fruit bomb in the least. Very good now.

Good stuff. Nothing powerful or complex but well made Cali cab that isn't all fruit and oak but has some nice balance. Tannins are moderate and there is some acid so I question longevity here. Drink this near term, have fun, and let your bigger wines sleep.

With one hour decanting it is really coming along nicely. Nice Turley fruit on the front end, but not too powerful - starting to mellow some; even with only a few months in the bottle. Quite enjoyable.

This deep crimson wine offers broad aromas of blackberries, dark plums, pickling spice, chocolate and dried herbs. Medium-bodied and with low-to-medium acidity, it delivers similar flavors which are wrapped by medium-weight, sweet tannins and nicely integrated oak. The alcohol (listed as 14.1%) is unnoticeable and the well-proportioned flavors gain depth in the middle. Closing with good length, this inaugural vintage of Turley Cabernet is amazingly refined and elegant. It is already drinking beautifully and should continue to do so for several more years. Drink now-2022.

Young, fruity, not highly complex, a bit light. Probably needs a couple of years in the cellar, but this doesn't appear to have the depth and structure for long term aging.

Mustard and spice on the nose. Acid. Tannic. Tart. Then subtle with ripe berries. Some vanilla. Some wood. Some dryness. Actually like a really light version of Caymus; much different style but similar taste profile. This is a much more classical version of California Cabernet Sauvignon that is not over the top. Elegant in comparison. Distinctly Californian though; this will not be mistaken for Bordeaux. Not what I expected for the vintage despite previous experience with the wine, but in a positive way. The high ABV, overripe Cabernet Sauvignon lover will not like this.

I was moving the case to the back of my cellar when curiosity got the best of me. I decanted through a vinturi and let sit for two hours, dark fruit on the nose, the palate was dark fruit, a hint of tobacco, a touch of licorice and an really nice finish. A few years in the cellar will do this wine wonders.

Interesting. Starts tight. Limited nose hints at blackberries and earth. Very tight on opening. Slightly spicy medium tannins. Very soft Napa Cab. Leave to open. Dark fruits move forward. Slightly thick mouth. Traces of gravel and anise. Does not finish overly dry. Tannins are rather conflicted. Needs more time but the base is a good place to start. Nice first vintage on their label. Can't wait to see what they do with further time. I feel the same way about this vintage.

Currants and cassis. Nice melding of oak mint and eucalyptus and of course a hearty dose of black fruits. It's all working. Tannins are pleasing and carried forward with a nice acidity. Finish is medium+ and body is full rich and comforting.

This is a very good wine, but not the best I've had for the price. QPR is fair, but again, not the best. The wine was relatively complex, with smooth tannins and great nuance on the palate, but I don't think it has a lot of room to mature. I would enjoy this over the next 1-3 years and be happy with it.

(Tasted at the Turley Pickup Party) Dark red with nice legs. Bouquet is closed right now, but it hints at nice things to come with some bottle age. The nose reminded L of a barrel room. I picked up more herbs and spices, mostly nutmeg, sage and cinnamon. The fruit is hidden in both the mouth and the finish. But, again, it's still very young. Wait 3 years?

Mushroom.

Slightly thick mouth. Traces of gravel and anise. Does not finish overly dry. Tannins are rather conflicted. Needs more time but the base is a good place to start. Nice first vintage on their label. Can't wait to see what they do with further time. I feel the same way about this vintage.
