Monday, January 14, 2019 - Popped and poured; deep, brilliant purple/ruby. Billowing aromas immediately off the pop...a lifted, almost floral perfume of blackberry, boysenberry, black pepper, autumnal vegetation, eucalyptus, chocolate mint, red clay & graham cracker. Evolves continually with air. Medium-plus body, racy acidity. On the palate, more red-fruited (cherries, cranberries, blood orange) in character plus notes of spice and an intriguing green/menthol quality. Rounded, somewhat chewy tannins accentuate the flavors on an endless close.
The herbaceous earthiness of this wine is just special...and yeah, some touches of VA and heat but who cares?? Absolutely profound.

Quick comment: Although perhaps less elegant, this is Mike's answer to L'Ermita
