Wednesday, October 24, 2012 - Served blind at L'Astrance. Guessed Volnay (maybe Chambolle) from a good vintage due to the bright red fruit expression, lean mineral texture that was bolstered by the round fruit on the palate. It had spice, earth, fine tannins and medium length. Good finesse and a nudge of complexity. I was shocked at the reveal from the somm that this was a 2004. First that a 2004 would be served at fine restaurant and second that it was a perfect match to the food and without a hint of the GM.
