Saturday, April 30, 2016 - An excellent, value for money red Burg to put away for a few years ... Drunk over two evenings. Deep ruby, purple highlights. A gorgeous nose. Ripe and rich. Notes of dark cherries, black plums, kirsch and damp peaty soil with a little spice and dry brushwood. On palate, brisk 2013 acidity on the attack. Also quite tannic, with those fine grained tannins presently hiding the fruit. With ~ 3-5 years under its belt it'll be a lovely Burg, I'd think. Very good fruit volume. Dense with serious structure. The flavours are black cherry, raspberries, damp earth and iron with suggestions of cassis.
