Friday, February 16, 2007 - Bottle's been open a good 2 hours now and is just starting to strut its stuff. Dark, opaque red. Powerful bouquet, fills the bowl of the glass substantially--its vapor thick as it reaches your nostrils. Getting dark, sweet preserved fruits, wet dust, a hint of vanilla and toasty oak. On the palate this is pure elegance as far as California Cabs go--this could be a dead ringer for Bordeaux (in fact, reminds me of the '03 Pontet Canet). Sweet and abundant tannins and a 40 second+ finish. A nice pucker of acidity gets you at the end.
