Wednesday, May 18, 2016 - This was a 16 year old wonderful surprise. In 2012 Neal Martin gave it an 86 and said the tannins were harsh. Neal, you should have waited another 4 years! The wine was fresh, tannins had subsided to the point of just giving the wine character and body, nothing at all hard, austere, and uncompromising. Ok, I'll admit the bottle I had about 10 years ago could be described as harsh, austere and uncompromising. It just needed 10 more years to turn into a real beauty. Nice fruit, excellent balance, and intense enough to pair well with spaghetti and spicy Italian sausage. It would have given last night's Araujo a run for its money.
