Tuesday, November 5, 2013 - Medium-dark red-violet color. Spicy oak leads in the nose, pushed by moderate blackberry and raspberry fruit. On arrival, medium tannin and medium-low acidity. Develops forward fruit in the mouth, not overripe, not goop-y, just fully ripe. Oak spice and a slight bitterness on the finish (seeds and pips over-processed ?) compete for attention. Drank well for an uncomplicated meal of homemade pizza with sausage and olives and a tray of mixed pickled peppers. It's a zin aimed right down the stylistic middle between easy drinking and big. Bottle #3 of four.
