86 Points

Thursday, January 25, 2018 - Drank w/out food. Definitely low tannin/low acid. Full-bodied pinot. Not nearly as much of a nose I expected (for a Sonoma Coast Pinot). Rating as 86 (very good), because I don't consider Sonoma Coast wines as easy to package (I find that they often have extreme expressions).
This one was all over the map upon opening. Total cacophony between herbs, wood, tea/root & a metallic tinge. After 30 minutes, it starts to come together though.
Odd as it might sound, after getting just a little bit of air, those pieces do come together & a strong buffering of fruit takes over, putting those other pieces in the backseat. With time, this is almost like a Sonoma Coast Pinot primer. For crystalline purity look elsewhere, but this might be a good gateway to the region & an introduction to the diversity that Pinot can exhibit.
