Sunday, January 10, 2016 - This wine is a little different than the 2010. The 2010 was quite a bit lighter and young-at-heart. Nice robust blackberrry fruit. Not this one! This wine is a darker representation of Cabernet Franc than I remembered. Poured a dark red with a slight violet hue. The nose was dark chocolate and earth with a hint of black licorice. The entry was all licorice and ripe figs. Full bodied. The middle gave way to a hint of black cherry and earth. Brambly. Finish is a little peppery. Residual left a hint of dark chocolate. Quite tannic even after 1 or 2 hours. I really expected quite a more youthful and blackberry filled CF here. Didn't get what I was expecting to get, but I think it probably went better with the chinese food it was enjoyed with than a fruit bomb would have. I think this wine probably has some longevity given the amount of stiff tannin still present even at a couple of hours. Really debating as to whether or not I really had enough info to rate this one, but I don't think this wine is where it should be right now.
