Wednesday, June 14, 2017 - Bought this at the tasting room. My first Syrah from one of my favorite RR producers. I buy a lot of their Pinot, Chard and old vine Zin. Now Jeff and Don are making syrah? oh the confusion, the decisions I will have to make. Where do I make room in the cellar? What wines do I displace to start holding on to these? I have to do something as this stuff is really good and I will need to buy more if they make more.
Smooth, round and soft not angular. Tannins well integrated but present showing off mountainside vineyard or some whole cluster press. Dark fruits, some game and tobacco on the nose. Nice spicy finish that lasted 35-40 seconds. could hold for at least another 5-7 years but very enjoyable now. May rate a higher score in a coupe of years when Tannin softens.
