Sunday, December 25, 2011 - pop n pour, color was brown-tinged, almost rusty. nose was awesome - lots of mushrooms and smoke, maybe a little glue (in a good way). at opening, we thought the wine was over the hill - but after 10 minutes in glass everyone changed their tune - this was, while clearly fully mature, quite delicious. Once it opened up, it was pepper, smoke, and mushrooms with just enough red fruit to please. At Christmas dinner, this was the perfect complement to our creamy mashed potatoes (while a younger wine was a better match with the roast ribeye). Drink up!
