pop n pour, color was brown-tinged, almost rusty. nose was awesome - lots of mushrooms and smoke, maybe a little glue (in a good way). at opening, we thought the wine was over the hill - but after 10 minutes in glass everyone changed their tune - this was, while clearly fully mature, quite delicious. Once it opened up, it was pepper, smoke, and mushrooms with just enough red fruit to please. At Christmas dinner, this was the perfect complement to our creamy mashed potatoes (while a younger wine was a better match with the roast ribeye). Drink up!

Really good stuff. Drinks more like a pinot than a CdP. Strawberry and light oak nose. Delicate mouthfeel. Pale red fruits and a little grilled meat. Great stuff, will look for more!

Tough wine to figure out. Opened last night and was met with a faint bouquet of soft red fruit, almost reminiscent of a pinot noir - strawberries and then amazingly, a tapenaude. I let it sit in the glass for 45 minutes and then tasted - and got red fruit and barnyard (or garriague, or brett - pick your name). OK. Second night - candied orange peel and lighter barnyard. Towards the bottom of the last glass I thought I smelled coffee - but this evolved into tapenaude again and then a leather soap - all good. I liked it much better the second night.

No formal note.
Single piece cork, no seepage. Decanted and tasted over 3 h.
Initially reticent nose with some funk. The funk blew off and the wine revealed itself to be quite elegant and burg-like.
Good length on finish, still has some grip. A bit rustic.
Drinking well, would hold up for another decade, unsure if it will improve.
Drink or hold.

Tasted 13.8.2011. Silky fruity but rich at the same time. Complex with a long finish.
