Thursday, March 11, 2021 - On opening, the first sniff was really surprising - no oak, no chocolate, no deep, rich aromas, on the contrary, a wonderfully fresh smell of spring flowers, followed by sweet cherry, violets and a hint of plum. The first sip was just as disconcerting - very fresh and fruity, like a Chinon, blueberry, blackcurrant and cherry, not at all cloying, but then it morphed into something else - cough mixture, with a very hot after-taste which slides down the back of the throat. Going back for more, the attack tasted slightly weak compared to the hot finish, giving the impression of something unbalanced. Not bad, but I've had better Côtes de Castillon for a lot less.

All in all, not the disaster I feared but nothing special either, especially at the price. The best thing about this was the bouquet.
