Monday, August 11, 2014 - Next to Atxa Vermouth a Rojo.
Much more aromatized. Cinnamon, sandalwood, sweet spice. Nutmeg is up front too. They also say 'galangal and gentian' on the back label. Among 17 different herbs and spices. The base wine here comes with much more texture. A little bit of an oxidative/nutty note on the palate from the base. In reading, it says they use some of their port style wine to add color and depth. This comes across a bit sweeter than the Atxa as well, but that could use be the sweet/bitter perception of balance.
This drinks particularly well on its own.
