We haven't opened an '05 Bordeaux in 2+ years because of how infantile they've been. But with a big fall '05 tasting coming up it's time to check-in. The nose was reasonably open with cassis, pencil, and cigar box notes. On the palate: big black fruit, wet stone, and mocha also show up. Tannins remain firm but at least it's no longer like stepping into the boxing ring... I'd still wait 2-3 more before trying again (if it weren't for the November Ritual).
