Thursday, January 17, 2013 - We decanted the wine for 30 minutes, followed its development for another two hours, poured the leftover back into the bottle and re-tasted it two days later. The wine offered black currant, plum, dark chocolate and lots of oak on the tight nose. On the palate it showed plum, black cherry and coffee, paired with firm, dusty tannin, and coconut and intense oak flavours on the aftertaste. The unpleasantly over-oaked wine was barely drinkable to me. It needs time, but even with time I doubt that it will ever manage a turnaround.
