Wednesday, November 15, 2023 - Prior bottle was 2 and a quarter years ago and this wine has actually held up quite well, very much in line with my expectations. Black cherry, blackberry, mineral and lead pencil on the nose. Medium bodied with very pretty and open black cherry upfront. Retains that nice little burst of brighter blackberry which contributes contrast. Mid-body is almost all black cherry with just a touch of black raspberry towards the back as well as lightly tart black cherry. Fine grained and fully integrated tannins along with a touch of acidity provide structure and finishes with minerals and light spices. Overall, the fruit showed quite well and the wine shows good balance, but again perhaps not the depth or power of my first bottle. I don't see any room for future positive evolution and while it should continue to hold up this is a wine to be drunk in the near term to fully enjoy its current state.
