Sunday, December 31, 2023 - Showing the power of the vintage with plum, berry, cherry, bay leaf, cigar box. Tannins in check but may be overshadowed by the concentration and power still in evidence. Had on the nose but not on the palate an overlay of mildly cooked fruit that I associate with unbalanced over ripe wines when they start coming apart BUT this was easily ignored and a minor distraction. I think it’s in mid life, transitioned away from the fruit-forward power of its youth but not quite yet showing full secondary development. Very good/excellent, 4- (out of 5).
