95 Points

Monday, October 5, 2015 - At a friends celebration. This was the last of several bottles between the two of us. This went through many stages over the years, from mute and dark fruited while young, to funky and closed, but has finally blossomed and has an openness that seemingly appeared out of nowhere since our last bottle about 4 years ago. Lovely bouquet with red fruit and leathery spice, and really pops in the mouth with juicy, energetic flavour. I've noticed a lot of 98s faded lately and taste a bit flat these days but this has gained immensely; the Brunels make a great case for a more traditionally styled Chateauneuf.
