Friday, October 7, 2022 - Straw color verging on golden, but still with a young, intense greenness. Classic nose dominated by green apples, lime, peach, topped with nuts, butter and chalk. Complexity is just the first name. Full bodied attack, lots of butter and nuts up front that soon give way to ripe tropical fruit like peach, pineapple and pear. The ripe fruit is perfectly balanced by a searing acidity, somewhat untypical for a Meursault but still just beautiful. The aftertaste is lifted into tones of citrus, green apples, a hint of pineapple and a nutty feel. Very long. This was drunk together with a Bonneau de Matray Corton Charlemagne 2007 in perfect shape, and the two wines were in fact quite similar, although this is more fatty and round. The 1er cru is just as good as the Grand Cru. Still young, so decant some hours before drinking.
