Monday, September 25, 2017 - Nose of black fruit and sour gooseberries with fresh herbs, barnyard and spicy oak. Quite unique nose for a Syrah. Nose follows through to the white peppery palate. Quite dry, lean and minerals. Very different from the Shiraz of Australia and France. Also not quite similar to the Shiraz from South Africa. However, it lacks definition at the moment. Tight mid-palate and somewhat deep and racy finish. Fortunately the tannins are ripe and not forward. Need plenty of time in the bottle for the flavors to come together. Less gooseberries aroma and some espresso notes after 3 hours.
