Nose of black fruit and sour gooseberries with fresh herbs, barnyard and spicy oak. Quite unique nose for a Syrah. Nose follows through to the white peppery palate. Quite dry, lean and minerals. Very different from the Shiraz of Australia and France. Also not quite similar to the Shiraz from South Africa. However, it lacks definition at the moment. Tight mid-palate and somewhat deep and racy finish. Fortunately the tannins are ripe and not forward. Need plenty of time in the bottle for the flavors to come together. Less gooseberries aroma and some espresso notes after 3 hours.

Lots of bouquet, clearly Syrah like. Wonderful. Tasted and it is all in its finesse, not one of those "doped" new world Syrah, yet so tasty. Had it with a "rotie de filet d'oie". Great wine to drink with nibles or to have with the main course. Can absolutely recommend.

55% in 12 months of French oak, blended with 7% Cab, 3% Viognier. Medium plus nose shows blackberry, violets, anise, turned earth, allspice, fresh game, prosciutto. Palate matches, with dark fruits, spice layers, black plum, blackberry, dank cedar, that game note again. Lots of flavor for the price, very nice QPR, nice Chilean style.

Surprised this is only 14.5, as you can really taste it-- has a hot rubber note. I've enjoyed some Montes wines in the past, but this seems overly manipulated to me, unfortunately.

Pnp opened with lots of red fruit and licorice. Then aired and became creamy with suble spices and red fruits. Very balanced for new world Syrah. Great w braised bbq pork .

Tasted blind. At B&B PP. Poured into decanter and drank over 30 minutes. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, inky purple colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of chalky minerality, leather, black cherries, black pepper, and slight floral ?lavendar notes. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, feels high alcohol (14% only though), medium+ tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of chalky minerality, leather, black pepper, black cherries, blackberries. Long finish. Good quality. Obviously a Syrah. Quite Old World in style. I was guessing this was a young Crozes-Hermitage. Low yields. Aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. Small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier added. Will be interesting to see how this develops and tastes after some age over the next 3 years.
