Tuesday, July 13, 2021 - 2021 Bordeaux Tasting Trip; 7/12/2021-7/16/2021 (Bordeaux): A tasting in Bordeaux of 71 wines, some of the best I have ever had and others, umm, well were disappointing. If you read the Tasting story (and my grading history) I think it will do a much better job putting this in perspective.

Hmm after an amazing tour and a nervous anticipation of what this holy grail of Bordeaux would allow me to taste, I was floored by the wines in front of me. I very much wanted to taste the lineup and was hoping, and assuming no, it would be in my favorite vintages and the Chateau graciously over delivered by allowing me to taste the
2016 Pauillac de Latour
2015 Forts de Latour
2005 Chateau Latour (this one I still cannot believe)

I get to taste the 2005 Latour at Latour expertly stored and prepared after a day of insane Chateaus, what a treat and wow did it over deliver. This wine was killer juice and technically held the number one spot the longest which none of us thought it could be dethroned. It was a wine with everything and anything you would want in such a masterpiece full depth and complexity while still young for uts age while delivering the goods on the secondary flavors ending in a finish that was well over a minute and a half. Wine is absolutely fantastic and may have surpassed my favorite left bank Chateau. Wow this wine was fantastic over delivering in every phase for a wine of this age. I would hold for another few years as this has the goods for the long haul but if you were smart and financially well off enough to buy in large quantities, no harm in drinking one now. What a wine.

7/23/2021 8:41:00 PM - Thank you for the note and insight, Lite. 2005, in general, seems to age at a snail's pace....not sure if these will ever be ready during my life time! I do have 1 bottle of this, but no plans of opening any time in the near future....
