Monday, January 5, 2015 - Nice dark rubis colour. Upon opening, blackcurrant and chocolate. After two hours in a decanter, aromas of blackcurrant, blueberries, smoke and some spices. On the palate, the attack is frank, tannic and lively with fruit flavours similar to what was noticed on the nose. This wine was consumed with a food that was inappropriate to soften the tannin. Therefore, the wine appeared to be walking the line between tannin, fine and very present, and the fruit. I’m not sure which way this will go, whether the fruit will survive the tannin and become wonderful, or whether it will dry out. After 10 hours open, the wine is still walking on that same fine line, not sure whether the fruit or the tannin will win. This wine should be able to live for quite a while still, but I’m not sure how it will evolve as to the fruit/tannin ratio. Next bottle in 2016 or early 2017. Also to note, quite a present acidity and aromas of kirsch / sour cherries.
Belle robe rubis sombre. À l'ouverture, cassis et chocolat. Après deux heures d'aération, c'est plutôt cassis, myrtilles, cerises et fumée avec des épices. En bouche, l'attaque est franche, tannique et vive avec le fruité qui est une continuation des arômes en bouche. N'a pas accompagné un plat qui gomme les tannins - de ce fait, le vin était vraiment sur le fil d'une aiguille entre le tannins, fin, mais très présent, et le fruit. Je ne sais pas de quel côté, ça va tomber - si en murissant le fruit ressortira et le tannins s'estompera ou s'il va se désécher et que le fruit disparaîtra. Dix heures après l'ouverture, toujours en forme, toujours beaucoup de tannins et de fruit, mais toujours cet équilibre limite. À priori pourra vivre encore bien longtemps, mais je ne sais pas comment il évoluera en terme d'équilibre. Prochaine bouteille 2016 ou début 2017. À noter une bonne acidité bien présente, des arômes de kirsch après quelques heures et une bonne longueur.
