Friday, December 26, 2014 - Enjoyed this wine along with pork roast enwrapped in a crackling made of bacon and fresh herbs. Very distinctive bouquet. At first, cedar wood, mocha, tobacco and leather. After some more time in the decanter, the wine showed additional aromas of black currant, blackberry, heart cherry, pencil shavings and some ash. Very nice and classic. Sinewy on the palate, but not plump at all. Full-bodied, medium acid and with ripe tannins that leave a smooth impression. Red fruits, red currant, cherry, coffee, earthy and fine wood. Long-lasting finish. Already approachable, but there is no reason to rush things. Drink or hold.
Zum Schweinebraten im Speckmantel und Kräuterkruste. In der Nase ausgeprägte Noten von Zedernholz, Mokka, Tabak und Leder. Mit etwas mehr Luft in der Karaffe, dann auch Cassis, Brombeere, Herzkirsche, Bleistiftspitze und etwas Asche. Sehr schönes und klassisches Bouquet. Am Gaumen kräftig, aber nicht plump oder opulent. Körperreich, mittlere Säure, reife und eher samtigere Tannine. Rotbeerig, rote Johannisbeere, Kirsche, erdig, Edelholz. Langer Nachhall. Bereits gut trinkbar, könnte aber ruhig noch etwas liegen bleiben.
